On December 6th. 2013 the Club celebrated our Christmas Dinner at the Public Schools Club. It was a grand occasion and we were joined by Hannah Fabig and Tyla Cousins following their trip to Melbourne in September on the tall ship S.T.S. Lord Nelson. Hannah was sponsored for the 8 day trip by the Seven Seas Club of Australia Baxter and Grimshaw Trust, with Tyla making the trip as her carer. After hearing them talk on their experiences and how much it meant to both of them, Hannah was a very worthy recipient of the sponsorship.

Our Annual Ladies Night was held at the Public Schools Club on Wednesday June 18th.. Guest speakers were Roger and Marion Holden who entertained us with a lively account of their world cruise in ‘Marionette IV’. The voyage took over 18 years to complete in stages, taking into account seasonal conditions and family commitments.

Ladies Night was held on June 17th. at the Public Schools Club – Carolyn Spooner spoke on the rich heritage of the Paul McGuire Maritime Library.

In memory of her husband, the late Paul McGuire, Mrs F. M. McGuire donated to the Libraries Board of South Australia a considerable sum of money to establish a Trust Fund for the development of a special Maritime Library. This was established in 1979 and contains publications from all over the world relating to the sea and shipping.
